We set these lamps at 120W per linear centimeter for a reason. It’s the sweet spot. It puts out enough UVC and UVB photons to get those photopolymers cross-linking instantly. What’s actually happening inside?
Inside the tube, we’ve got a mix of mercury and argon. Once the starting voltage hits, the mercury vaporizes and starts throwing out a spectrum centered around 254nm. We use high-purity fused quartz for the tubing. Why? Because cheap glass is a wall—it blocks the exact wavelengths you’re paying for. We also obsess over the electrode positioning. If those are off by a hair, you get flickering. No one wants a flickering arc when they’re trying to maintain a steady production line.
